Secret & Discreet At-Home Paternity DNA Test Kit Using Toothbrush Samples

Accurate • Confidential • Fast Results You Can Trust

When you can't collect a cheek swab from either participant

This is the kit for scenarios where a cheek swab is not possible from the alleged father or the child. Most discreet paternity kits require at least one participant to provide a standard cheek swab. This one doesn't. Both participants provide used toothbrushes, and the lab extracts DNA from both, then compares the profiles.

The scenarios where this matters:

  • A child who won't sit still for a cheek swab, and an alleged father who doesn't know a test is being conducted.

  • A separated household where neither participant is directly reachable for a swab.

  • A situation where any visible collection would raise suspicion.

  • An alleged father who is present but unwilling to swab, and a child too young or too distant to swab.

How dual toothbrush testing actually works

The lab performs forensic DNA extraction on both toothbrushes independently. Each extraction is reviewed for viability, and each profile is built separately. Once both profiles are established, the standard paternity comparison runs at 24 DNA genetic markers with dual processing, exactly as it would with two cheek swabs.

How reliable is a paternity test with two toothbrushes?

Accuracy on the comparison itself is identical to any other paternity test at our accredited lab. When paternity is confirmed, results show 99.999% or higher. When paternity is excluded, exclusion is 100%. The added risk in this kit isn't accuracy, it's that both samples have to pass viability. If either toothbrush doesn't yield enough DNA, the case pauses until a replacement is submitted.

Which toothbrushes to send

  • Each toothbrush should have been used at least 20 times by only the person being tested.

  • Electric brush heads work. Send only the removable head.

  • Well-used older brushes work better than newer ones.

  • Never send a wet brush, a brush stored in a sealed container, or a brush that's been sanitized in a dishwasher or UV cleaner.

  • The child's toothbrush works even for young children, as long as it's been used regularly.

Alternative combinations

If you can't get two toothbrushes but can get one toothbrush plus a different alternative sample (hair with roots, nail clippings), the general Alternative Samples kit (product 2 in this collection) is probably a better fit. This dual-toothbrush kit is optimized specifically for two toothbrushes.

Important Information

This at-home paternity DNA test kit is intended for informational use only and is not legally admissible. For court-admissible (legal) DNA testing requiring chain of custody, please contact My Forever DNA directly.

Results from alternative DNA samples, such as toothbrushes, depend on the quantity and quality of DNA present. All samples undergo a viability assessment. If insufficient DNA is detected, additional samples may be required. Viability testing fees are non-refundable.

5-7 Day Results for Toothbrush DNA Samples

Plan for 5 to 7 business days from lab receipt to results in email. Because both toothbrushes require forensic viability review, this case type has slightly less margin than a single-toothbrush case. If both samples pass viability quickly, the timeline is unchanged. If either sample struggles, the case pauses while your specialist contacts you about a replacement.

What takes the most time in a dual-toothbrush case

  1. Forensic viability review on toothbrush #1: 1 to 3 business days.
  2. Forensic viability review on toothbrush #2: runs concurrently with #1 in most cases.
  3. DNA extraction and profile building on both samples once viability confirms.
  4. Paternity comparison at 24 markers with dual processing.
  5. Quality-control review and report release.

What can extend the timeline

One or both toothbrushes not yielding enough DNA is the main variable. If a replacement is needed, ship it as soon as possible to keep the case moving. Your specialist can advise on which toothbrush to prioritize replacing if only one is in question.

The Human Advantage Behind Every Accurate DNA Result

Dual-toothbrush cases have twice as many variability points as a single-toothbrush case. Because of that, having one specialist assigned to your case rather than a rotating support queue matters more here than in most kits. That specialist knows your case history, remembers which toothbrush was submitted first, and can advise on trade-offs if a replacement is needed.

What your specialist handles for a dual-toothbrush case

  • Confirms both toothbrushes arrived and were logged in.
  • Contacts you if either toothbrush has viability concerns, and helps you decide which to replace.
  • Explains what the comparison confirms and doesn't confirm before you receive the report.
  • Answers questions after the result is delivered.

No portal, no barcode, no account

Nothing to set up, nothing to register, nothing to log into. You reach your specialist by phone, text, or email. Everything the kit needs to complete testing is in the box on arrival.

Your DNA Has a Story. We Keep It Yours.

Plain FedEx envelope inbound and plain FedEx envelope outbound. No branding, no DNA-related language visible. Nothing on the outside identifies the contents to anyone else in your household or workplace.

Your bank statement reads "MFD"

The charge appears as "MFD" only. No reference to DNA testing, paternity, or the full business name.

DNA handling and storage

  • No consumer DNA profile is built for your record.
  • No upload to ancestry, genealogy, law enforcement, or research databases.
  • DNA data is never sold, licensed, or shared.
  • Both physical toothbrushes are destroyed after testing per lab protocol.

Consent and the dual-collection scenario

A dual-toothbrush scenario often means both toothbrushes are being collected without the participants knowing. Whether that's legal depends on your state, country, and jurisdiction. It's your responsibility to ensure compliance. Informational testing results are not court-admissible regardless of collection method. If a legal proceeding is possible, order a legal DNA test with witnessed collection instead.

How Our Discreet Toothbrush Paternity DNA Test Works

Step 1 · Kit arrives

Ships within 1 business day of ordering. Arrives via FedEx in 1 to 2 business days in plain unmarked packaging.

Step 2 · Choose two well-used toothbrushes

Pick one toothbrush from each participant, used at least 20 times, and used only by that person. If either brush might have been used by someone else, don't send it. Contamination from a second person makes the sample unusable.

Step 3 · Let both toothbrushes dry

Air-dry both brushes completely. Never bag a wet toothbrush. Give them at least a few hours in open air before packaging.

Step 4 · Package each toothbrush in its own paper envelope

Use the two envelopes provided. Label which envelope contains which participant's toothbrush (the alleged father's or the child's). Do not use plastic bags.

Step 5 · Ship samples to the lab

Put both toothbrush envelopes and the notification form into the prepaid FedEx return envelope. Drop at any FedEx location.

Step 6 · Concurrent viability review on both samples

The lab runs forensic viability review on both toothbrushes at the same time. This step takes 1 to 3 business days. Your specialist contacts you if either sample has a concern.

Step 7 · Paternity comparison

Once profiles are built from both samples, the comparison runs at 24 DNA genetic markers with dual processing.

Step 8 · Result delivery by email

Your specialist releases the full-color PDF report to your email once quality-control review is complete. If you want a walkthrough, ask.
