At-Home DNA Test Kits by Mail

The right at-home DNA test starts with the biological relationship you want to investigate. Once that is clear, you can choose who will participate, where they will collect, and which sample type is available.

Most My Forever DNA tests use painless cheek swabs collected at home. The samples are then sent for professional analysis through our AABB-accredited U.S. laboratory partner. Results are delivered privately by email, and our team is available if your family does not fit neatly into a standard two-person kit.

Start with a Direct Parent-Child Test

A direct parentage test usually provides the clearest answer when the parent can provide DNA.

• Paternity DNA testing compares an alleged father directly with a child.

• Maternity DNA testing compares an alleged mother directly with a child.

The other parent's sample is not normally required. If you need to test several children or compare both alleged parents with one child, choose a kit built for all of the required participants.

When the Parent Cannot Participate

Another close relative may be able to provide indirect evidence about the family connection.

• Sibling DNA testing evaluates a possible full-sibling or half-sibling relationship.

• Grandparent DNA testing compares a child with one or both biological parents of the unavailable parent.

• Aunt or uncle DNA testing compares a child with the unavailable parent's biological sibling.

The best test depends on which relatives can take part. Contact us before ordering if several family members are available or if you are unsure which relationship the laboratory should evaluate.

Twin Zygosity Testing

A twin zygosity DNA test is for people already known to be twins from the same pregnancy. It determines if their DNA profiles support identical or fraternal twins.

Choose sibling testing when two people are trying to find out if they share one or both biological parents. The laboratory is answering a different question in each test.

Choose How the Samples Will Be Collected

After choosing the relationship, match the test to the practical side of the case.

• Standard shipped kit: Use this when the required participants can collect cheek swabs at the same address.

• Multi-location DNA testing: Separate kits can be sent to two U.S. addresses and returned under one case.

• DIY digital DNA testing: Receive the instructions electronically and provide the approved collection and mailing supplies yourself.

• Discreet DNA testing: An approved personal item may be considered when a cheek swab is unavailable.

Alternative samples must first produce a usable DNA profile. Multi-location cases involving more than two addresses or international shipping should also be confirmed before ordering.

How At-Home DNA Testing Works

1. Choose the relationship test and include the right participants.

2. Collect and label every sample using the instructions provided.

3. Return the samples and completed forms for laboratory analysis.

4. Receive the completed relationship report privately by email.

Standard paternity, maternity, and twin zygosity cases typically require 1 to 3 business days in laboratory processing. Sibling, grandparent, and aunt or uncle cases typically require 2 to 3 business days. Alternative samples usually take longer because the DNA must first be extracted and evaluated.

Shipping and collection time are separate. No online portal, account setup, kit activation, or barcode registration is required.

DNA Testing During Pregnancy

The relationship kits in this collection are used after birth. Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity testing uses a professionally collected maternal blood sample from 7 weeks of pregnancy plus a cheek swab from the alleged father.

For an early boy-or-girl result, SneakPeek Clinical is available at our Omaha office from 6 weeks of pregnancy. SneakPeek does not test paternity or screen for medical conditions.

Personal Results and Legal DNA Testing

Self-collected at-home tests are for personal knowledge. Official matters require verified participant identities, witnessed collection, and documented chain of custody. Arrange legal DNA testing before collection if the result may be used for court, child support, custody, immigration, inheritance, Social Security, or a birth-record change.

Standard kits are sent in plain packaging, and results are delivered privately by email. Customer DNA data is never sold, and consumer DNA profiles are not uploaded to ancestry, genealogy, or law-enforcement databases. Physical samples are destroyed after testing according to laboratory protocol.
