This test combines digital delivery with alternative-sample collection for customers who want to begin without a kit being shipped to their home. The alleged father, the child, or both can provide an approved alternative sample, such as a used toothbrush or hair with roots. You can also combine one person's alternative sample with the other person's cheek swabs. The laboratory still needs a usable DNA profile from every required participant; sending an item from the alleged father alone cannot establish his relationship to a child whose DNA has not been submitted.

The sample-success percentages shown in our collection charts refer to recovering usable DNA from a submitted item. They are separate from the probability of paternity reported after the laboratory obtains the required profiles and completes the comparison. If one person provides a toothbrush and the other provides cheek swabs, choose No additional sample. If both people provide alternative samples, choose 1 additional sample (+$100).
Each additional alleged father or child costs $80. Each alternative sample beyond the one already included costs $100, whether it comes from another participant or from someone who has already provided a sample. For example, a toothbrush and a separate rooted-hair sample from the same father are two alternative submissions, even if one is intended as a backup.
