The right service depends on two questions: what do you need to learn, and how will the result be used? If the answer is only for you and your family, an informational test may be enough. If a court, agency, or other organization may receive the result, tell us before collection so we can arrange the legal process.

These services answer different questions. SneakPeek reports fetal sex and does not test paternity. Prenatal paternity testing compares fetal DNA with a possible father and does not screen for medical conditions.

In-Office Collection or an At-Home Kit?

In-office collection is useful when you want a trained person to handle the cheek swabs, prefer local guidance, or need a service that requires professional collection. An informational cheek-swab test does not become more accurate simply because the samples were collected in our office. The benefit is help with collection, labeling, and submission.

At-home testing can be more convenient when the answer is for personal knowledge and the participants want to collect privately. Separate kits can also be arranged when family members live in different places.

Legal testing is different from both choices because the participants' identities and every step of sample handling must be documented. A privately collected sample cannot later be added to a legal chain of custody.

Walk-Ins and Appointments

Walk-ins are welcome for many standard informational relationship tests during regular business hours, although calling first can save you a wait and helps us confirm that the right service is available.

Advance scheduling is required for prenatal paternity testing and legal DNA testing. An appointment is also recommended for SneakPeek Clinical. Call before traveling if you are coming from Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, Elkhorn, Council Bluffs, Lincoln, Fremont, Blair, or another nearby community.

What to Expect During Your Visit

For a standard informational relationship test, we confirm the people being compared, collect and label the cheek swabs, and prepare the samples for laboratory submission. Cheek-swab collection is painless and can be used for newborns, children, and adults.

Legal appointments include additional identity, consent, photograph, and chain-of-custody steps. Prenatal paternity and SneakPeek appointments involve a professional maternal blood draw. We will explain the sample requirements before the appointment so you know who needs to attend.

When Will You Receive Results?

Turnaround depends on the service:

• Standard paternity, maternity, and twin zygosity results are typically completed within 1 to 3 business days after the laboratory accepts the complete case.

• Sibling, grandparent, and aunt-or-uncle results are typically completed within 2 to 3 business days after the complete case enters laboratory processing.

• Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity results are typically available in approximately 7 business days after all required samples are received and accepted.

• SneakPeek Clinical results are usually reported by email the next business day.

Collection and shipping time are separate from laboratory processing. A sample collected in Omaha may be sent to the laboratory the same business day, but that does not mean the result will be available the same day.
