Discreet Toothbrush At-Home Paternity DNA Test Kit

Accurate • Confidential • Fast Results You Can Trust - Nationwide Genetic DNA Testing

Discover the truth - privately and confidently - with our Discreet Toothbrush At-Home Paternity DNA Test Kit. Designed for situations where traditional cheek swab testing isn’t possible, this advanced genetic DNA testing solution allows you to determine biological paternity using a toothbrush and a standard cheek swab.

This secret and discreet at-home paternity DNA test kit offers flexibility, accuracy, and complete privacy. Whether you are testing a child or adult, our forensic DNA methods ensure reliable results while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.

By combining everyday items with professional laboratory analysis, you can move forward with clarity - without the need to request a traditional DNA test.

Can you get a paternity test from a used toothbrush?

Yes, and toothbrushes are one of the most reliable alternative DNA samples we work with. A toothbrush that's been used regularly captures thousands of epithelial cells from the cheek and gum lining every session. That's the same tissue type a cheek swab collects. The difference is that a swab is designed for a single collection under controlled conditions, while a toothbrush accumulates cells over time.

How many uses does a toothbrush need for a reliable DNA sample?

20 uses or more, meaning the person has brushed with it at least 20 times. A newer toothbrush may still work but the risk of insufficient DNA goes up. If you're choosing between a well-used older brush and a nearly-new one, send the well-used one. If you have two brushes from the same person, send the one that's been used more.

Which toothbrushes work best

  • Manual toothbrushes that have been used at least 20 times.

  • The head of an electric toothbrush that's been used at least 20 times. Send only the removable brush head, not the electric handle.

  • Toothbrushes stored in a bathroom cup or holder work fine, as long as the person is the only one who used that brush.

  • Toothbrushes that have been rinsed and dried between uses are fine. What matters is that only one person has used it.

Which toothbrushes do not work

  • Shared toothbrushes. Any contamination from a second person makes the sample unusable.

  • Toothbrushes stored wet or in a sealed plastic bag. Trapped moisture allows bacteria to break down cellular material and degrade DNA.

  • Toothbrushes that have been sanitized in a UV sterilizer or dishwasher. Those methods kill bacteria but also damage the DNA the lab needs.

  • Brand-new brushes or brushes used only a handful of times.

How to package and ship a used toothbrush

Air-dry the toothbrush completely before packaging. Wrap it in a clean paper towel or place it in the paper envelope included with the kit. Do not seal it in a Ziploc, sandwich bag, or plastic container. The paper envelope allows any residual moisture to escape without trapping it against the bristles.

How accurate is a paternity test with a toothbrush sample?

When the toothbrush yields a viable DNA profile, accuracy is identical to a standard cheek swab paternity test. Both samples run through the same 24 DNA genetic markers with dual processing at an AABB-accredited and CAP-certified US laboratory partner. Paternity is confirmed at a 99.999% or higher probability, or excluded at 100%. The variable is not accuracy. It's whether the toothbrush had enough usable cells on it, which is why the 20-use guideline matters.

Important Information

This at-home paternity DNA test kit is intended for informational use only and is not legally admissible. For court-admissible DNA testing requiring chain of custody, please contact My Forever DNA for available options.

Results from alternative DNA samples, including toothbrushes, depend on the quantity and quality of DNA present. All samples undergo a viability assessment. If insufficient DNA is detected, additional samples may be required. Viability testing fees are non-refundable.

5-7 Day Results for Toothbrush DNA Samples

Plan for 5 to 7 business days from lab receipt to results in email. The forensic viability review on the toothbrush adds 1 to 3 business days compared to a standard cheek swab paternity test (which returns in 1 to 3 business days total). Toothbrushes tend to pass viability faster than most other alternative samples because the cell yield is higher, but the review is still required for every case.

Full timeline for a toothbrush case

  1. Order to kit arrival: 1 to 2 business days.
  2. Collection at home: cheek swab takes 3 to 5 minutes. Preparing the toothbrush for shipping takes a few minutes plus dry time.
  3. Return shipping to lab: 1 to 2 business days via prepaid FedEx.
  4. Forensic viability review on the toothbrush: 1 to 3 business days.
  5. Paternity comparison at 24 markers: within the 5 to 7 business day window once viability confirms.
  6. Result delivery by email: same day the report clears QC.

When timelines slip

The most common reason for delay is a toothbrush that yields less DNA than expected. Your specialist contacts you if a replacement or a second toothbrush is worth submitting. Weekends and holidays are outside the turnaround window because the lab operates Monday through Friday.

The Human Advantage Behind Every Accurate DNA Result

When your samples arrive at the lab, one DNA specialist is assigned to your case and stays with it through result delivery. They confirm intake, flag any viability concerns, release the report by email, and answer questions after. You reach them by phone, text, or email, not through a portal or ticket system.

Why toothbrush cases work well with real support

Toothbrush cases usually go smoothly. But when something unusual happens, whether it's a shipping delay, a viability question, or a customer wanting to switch from toothbrush to hair mid-case, the resolution is a five-minute conversation with the assigned specialist rather than a support-ticket back-and-forth over days.

No accounts, no barcode, no activation

There's nothing to set up before shipping the kit and nothing to register when you receive it. You don't create a login, you don't scan a barcode, you don't confirm anything on a website. The kit is designed to work whether the customer has a smartphone and email fluency or not.

Your DNA Has a Story. We Keep It Yours.

The kit arrives in an unmarked FedEx envelope. Someone signing for the delivery has no way to tell what's inside. The return envelope is equally plain, so nothing about the shipment identifies what's in it either direction.

The charge on your statement reads "MFD"

Your credit card or bank statement shows "MFD" as the merchant name. No full business name, no reference to DNA testing. Standard billing pattern across our discreet products.

What we do and don't do with your DNA

  • Do: run the paternity comparison at 24 markers, deliver the result, destroy the physical sample per lab protocol.
  • Don't: build a consumer DNA profile.
  • Don't: upload to ancestry, genealogy, law enforcement, or research databases.
  • Don't: sell, license, or share DNA data.
  • Don't: require any account or portal setup.

Consent and toothbrush collection

Collecting a used toothbrush from another person without their knowledge is a common scenario for discreet paternity testing. Whether that collection is legal in your state, province, or country is a question of local law and not something we can advise on. If you're unsure, ask a local attorney before ordering. Results from an at-home test are informational only and cannot be used in court regardless of how the sample was collected.

How Our Discreet Toothbrush At-Home Paternity DNA Test Works

Step 1 · Kit arrives

Ships within 1 business day of ordering. Arrives via FedEx in 1 to 2 business days in plain unmarked packaging.

Step 2 · Choose the right toothbrush

Pick a toothbrush that's been used at least 20 times by only the person being tested. If it's an electric brush, use only the removable head, not the handle. If two brushes exist, send the one that's been used more.

Step 3 · Let the toothbrush dry

The toothbrush must be completely air-dried before packaging. If it's wet, moisture trapped in transit will degrade the DNA. Leave it out in open air for at least a few hours before packaging.

Step 4 · Package the toothbrush in the paper envelope

Place the dry toothbrush in the paper envelope included with the kit. Never wrap it in plastic or place it in a Ziploc bag. Seal only the paper envelope.

Step 5 · Collect the cheek swab from the other participant

The other participant collects two cheek swabs by rubbing each swab against the inside of the cheek for 60 seconds. Store the swabs in their envelope, air-dried at room temperature.

Step 6 · Ship samples back to the lab

Put the toothbrush envelope, the swab envelope, and the notification form into the prepaid FedEx return envelope. Drop at any FedEx location or arrange a pickup.

Step 7 · Forensic viability review on the toothbrush

The lab reviews the toothbrush for viable DNA extraction. This takes 1 to 3 business days. Your specialist contacts you if there's a concern before any additional work is done.

Step 8 · Paternity comparison at 24 markers

Once a usable profile is extracted, the lab runs the paternity comparison at 24 DNA genetic markers with dual processing.

Step 9 · Result delivery by email

Your specialist releases the full-color PDF report to your email. If you want help interpreting it, they walk you through it directly.
